Working Together to Support Positive Behaviour

Working Together to Promote Positive Behaviour
Most young children will have times when they have tantrums, argue, and hit out at each other as they are learning to share and negotiate. Key workers can help your child cope with these stages by offering support, calming them down, diverting them to other activities and helping them to become sociable and confident. If you would like further information on any behaviour issue, please speak to your child’s key worker, or a member of management team.

Triple P
The Wellbeing Worker is accredited to deliver Triple P Primary Care, which supports you with your child’s behaviour. This is delivered on a one to one basis over four sessions. Please speak to the Wellbeing Worker if you would like more information. Further information can also be found at, glasgow.triplep-staypositive.net

Play Therapy
Play Therapy is designed to support children with emotional literacy, behaviour and mental health issues. The Play Therapist works with individual children either with or without their parent. Play Therapy is an effective therapy that helps children modify their behaviours, clarify self-concept and build healthy relationships. Play Therapy helps children to find healthier ways of communicating, develops fulfilling relationships, increases resilience and facilitate emotional literacy. If you would like more information about Play Therapy, please speak to a member of the management team.

Nurture
Glasgow City Council seeks to ensure our city is a nurturing City and provides staff training on Nurturing Principles which are:

  • Children and young people’s learning is understood developmentally
  • The classroom offers a safe base
  • The importance of nurture for the development of self – esteem
  • Language is a vital means of communication
  • All behaviour is communication
  • The importance of transition in young people’s lives

In our 3-5 playroom we have a nurture room. We have a dedicated staff member who’s role it is to support children through our nurture programme. In keeping with the theme of flowers and trees in Scotland our nursery room is called the “Wispy Willows”. If you want to know more about our nurture programme please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff, they will be happy to help.
