Partnership with Parents

We aim to establish a positive working partnership between parents/cares and staff, thus creating a sound framework for growth and development of your child.

The nursery has a Participation Strategy which has been designed to further promote and establish links with parents and carers to provide opportunities for you to participate in a variety of learning activities with your child, and for yourself.

We produce a regular newsletter full of information about future events and news in relation to the life and work of the nursery. Information is also displayed on a whiteboard at the entrance to the nursery, and at other locations throughout the nursery.

We encourage parents/carers to become active participants in the life and work of Budhill Family Learning Centre by being involved whenever possible, working with the nursery team to enhance and promote the children’s development and learning. Effective and genuine working relationships between parents is viewed as being crucial in supporting children.

Parents and carers views are sought in a variety of ways and for a variety of purposes. We will be delighted to hear directly from you any ideas that could develop, shape and improve the nursery. There is a suggestion basket at the reception which can be used to suggest anything that you feel could be improved, or anything you think we are doing well. These will be used to complement our internal monitoring process, based on the quality assurance document “How Good is Our Early Learning and Childcare”. This will shape our planning process as we progress throughout the year. The outcome of this process can be viewed on various displays within the nursery and in our Improvement Plan, also displayed within the nursery.

Parents/carers Room
The nursery has a parents’ room where parents and carers can meet and spend time together. The room is situated to the left of the main reception. This room can be used by parents/carers to remain on the premises while their child is settling in to the nursery. Tea and coffee is provided in this room along with information about Budhill Family Learning Centre and the local community.

Parent/carer groups
Throughout the year we will hold a range of groups and workshops which will give parents/carers the opportunity to meet other parents, learn new skills and share skills that you have with others. For example, groups in returning to the workforce, how to get that job, budgeting, managing children’s behaviours, sewing, cookery, keeping active and the Triple P parenting programme have taken place. Our Family Wellbeing Worker will advertise these activities in the front hall, main reception and through newsletters and flyers.

Parent/carer committee
The management team are keen to establish and sustain an active parent/carer committee to help us with the working life of the nursery. For example, assisting with organising fundraising events, children’s festivities, reading stories to children, helping new parents/carers settle into the nursery routine etc.
